I Still Have My Father’s Voice
My relationship with my dad wasn’t perfect. But I loved him. And I’m grateful that I recorded interviews with him to write his memoir before he very unexpectedly passed away due to complications from COVID-19.
When I started the process, I wasn’t thinking about losing him. I just wanted to capture his stories—his childhood adventures in the Bronx, his proudest moments as an inventor, the lessons he wanted to pass down. Some of his stories I had heard before, but many were new to me, revealing pieces of his life I had never known. I didn’t realize how much I would cherish those recordings until he was gone.
Now, his voice isn’t just a memory; it’s something I can still hear.
His laughter, his pauses as he searched for the right words, and the way he told a story with his own rhythm and humor—usually terrible puns—it’s all preserved. And that means the world to me.

Losing a loved one is never easy. But having his memoir, filled with his own words and perspective, has been a source of comfort and connection. I can share it with family, with future generations, and most importantly, I can return to it whenever I miss him.
That’s why we do what we do at Stories to Last. We record the stories of the people you love. We ask them about their lives, their dreams, their challenges.
Because parents often censor the stories they tell their children, they will likely include anecdotes and details you’ve never heard. We write it down, capture their voice, and preserve their legacy.
Because one day, those stories will mean more than you can imagine.
